3rd Decan of Virgo

Did you know that there are correspondences between tarot and astrology?  As the Sun moves through each sign, there is a tarot card that aligns which each decan of that sign.

But to begin: What’s a decan?  The zodiac is divided into twelve signs of 30° each and every sign is further divided into three 10° spans called decans. It’s like dividing a pizza (zodiac) into 12 slices (the signs) and then into three mini slices (the decans). Since the Sun moves roughly 1° per day, it takes the Sun just about ten days to move through one decan and approximately 30 days to transit one sign.

It takes the Sun just about ten days to move through one decan.

Each decan is associated with a minor arcana card. When the Sun travels through an Earth sign like it is now as it makes its way through Virgo, we know we are dealing with The Pentacles. In addition, Virgo is a mutable sign. All the mutable signs—Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces—correspond to the 8, 9 and 10 of their suits. Why? Because mutables appear at the end of the season. They signify a shift and moving into something new.

If we put this together:

— When the Sun is in the 1st decan of Virgo (Aug 22 to Sep 2), we’re in the Eight of Pentacles energy.

— When the Sun is in the 2nd decan of Virgo (Sep 3 to Sep 12), we’re in the Nine of Pentacles energy.

— When the Sun is in the 3rd decan of Virgo (Sep 13 to Sep 21), we’re in the Ten of Pentacles energy.

How is the Ten of Pentacles showing up for you?

—  Is there a feeling of harvest?

— Have you recently reached a financial, work or project goal?

— Are you experiencing manifestations of abundance, prosperity and/or legacy?
