Temperance Octopus
We chose Octopus to represent Temperance. Just like Temperance, the octopus is creatively flexible and smart, forever adapting to its environment. Whether through camouflaging itself or squeezing its body into tiny spaces, Octopus teaches us how to take what life presents us and find a way to integrate it into our lives.
Symbolism
Crown: Our essential sovereignty and free will to pick our own true path.
Irises symbolize faith, hope and wisdom which characterize the sign of Sagittarius.
The triangle has long been recognized as the union of body, mind and spirit. It’s also a symbol of stability, harmony, creativity and integration.
Cups are in the process of alchemy. Temperance Octopus gathers life experiences and alchemizes them into wisdom.
Feet: One in the air and one touching the ground symbolize achieving balance in mid-dance.
Astrology
Temperance is associated with the sign of Sagittarius. Sagittarians are on a quest to explore their world and expand their horizons.
