We chose Cobra to represent Death. The Egyptians believed that every night, the Sun-God faced the Serpent of Death as he travelled through the underworld Duat. In his battle with his ophidian enemy, the Sun went through a rebirth. He became new again, ready to rise up and over the horizon to illuminate a new day once again. Cobra Death teaches us that the other side of an ending is a new beginning.
Symbolism
Cobra sits atop of the journeying Sun symbolizing the renewal we often go through when we venture into our own personal Duat—a place of darkness and sometimes chaos—but one where there is opportunity to begin again.
We incorporated the horse’s reins from the Rider Waite Smith deck on the wallpaper. Horses symbolize courage, freedom and triumph.
Choker: Cobra wears the Tudor Rose found on the Death flag in the Rider Waite Smith deck. Arthur Edward Waite called it the Mystic Rose, sharing that it signifies life. Its white color is associated with purification.
Astrology
Death is associated with the sign of Scorpio. Scorpio is recognized as a deeply intense sign where purification and transformation are not only possible, but sought after.
