We chose Scarab Beetle to represent The Wheel of Fortune. In ancient Egypt, the scarab was not only considered lucky, but was a sacred symbol of transformation and cycles of life. As scarab beetle rolled their dung, they were thought to replicate the Sun moving across the sky.
The Wheel of Fortune teaches us that nonattachment to outer circumstances—be they good or bad—is the key to inner calm. Just roll with it!
Symbolism
The Wheel symbolizes cycles and change. The hub represents those things that are eternal and stay the same.
Four leaf clover stands for good luck, representing the good fortune this card is often associated with.
Letters: The handles of the wheel contain the letters TARO, which spell Tarot if you go the full circle. Counter clockwise, they spell TORA, a version of “Torah” which means law. Finally, if you start from the R and move clockwise, you’ll get the Latin for the word wheel: ROTA.
Astrology
